Urban Legends

An Urban Legend is usually a false statement, story or idea created by people. Urban Legends are created throughout the world, and many of them people still believe are true. If Urban Legends are true they are often exaggerated or the truth is bent a little.
The first Urban Legend I read about was carbonated-coke. The Urban Legend was about Coca-Cola becoming a carbonated drink when a soda jerk accidentally mixed Coca-Cola syrup with soda water. This Urban Legend is totally false, it is said that the man who created the combination of soda and cola syrup was Dr. John Pemberton because a drug store clerk accidentally mixed the two together.
The second Urban Legend I read about was Casinos pumping extra oxygen into the gaming floors to keep tired people from leaving to go to bed during the late night or early morning. This Urban Legend is false. This Urban Legend might make people believe that it is true because lack of oxygen does make you tired, and it would make a good theory.
The Third Urban Legend I read about was if a prisoner was supposed to be executed and the first attempt fails, then he is free to go legally. The urban legend started when small talk about a man in the 1960’s who was supposed to get the death sentence by an electric chair, so he decided to feed a wire into his jail cell and start building up his tolerance against electricity. When he had to sit in the electric chair and they turned on the power it only stung him a little. This Urban Legend is also false.
These stories that I have read are all Urban Legends. From what I have read Urban Legends tend to have a realistic story that the truth is bent or exaggerated. These stories are not the dramatic Urban Legend stories that most people think of when they hear Urban Legends.
